Recently I bought a 2012 15″ MacBook Pro which came with a Samsung 830 512GB SSD and 16GB of RAM. Needless to say, it didn’t come from Apple this way. I purchased it slightly used from the Marketplace on MacRumors.com.
This is my first computer with an SSD and it’s mighty quick to boot. I timed it below in this YouTube video which took about 15 seconds.
One of the first things I did was to check that it had the latest Samsung firmware and it does. Then I installed Groth’s TRIM Enabler to keep things tidy.
I also have an iOmega 128GB USB 3 flash drive that I used to run Time Machine with. It took about 7 minutes to do an initial backup of 10GB.
